Social media is a great way to get help spread your company's message to clients and prospects, but are you getting the most from your Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts?

In this multi-part blog series, I will focus on helping you get the most from LinkedIn.

The site has a lot of hidden features that most people are not capitalizing on, but should be! I read an interesting article (click here to read the full article) on that gave me 10 quick tips for improving ones LinkedIn account. Whether you’re trying to network more effectively, research your competitors, or be sought out for new job opportunities, there are simple things you can do to ensure that you’re LinkedIn better.

LinkedIn is a great tool that lets you network and, stay informed and reach out to other working professionals. It can work to your advantage if you use the features as they are intended.

  • Be a good citizen/neighbor; don't use groups for blatant self-promotion; instead, raise issues that fellow members of the group should find interesting
  • Don't spam group lists - it can have a negative impact on you and your company
  • Recommend other LinkedIn members who have done a great job for you.
  • Comment on updates with people in your network
